My Grandmother, My Hero.

On Christmas day, one of the most talented women I know passed away in her beautiful room at Hospice - my Grandmother. She is the women who is responsible for my career. If it were not for her infinite talent, I wouldn't have a company today. She never taught me how to sew, but she passed down to me her love of sewing that guided me through some of the hardest times of my life. I really, REALLY wish she hadn't suffered, and hadn't left us, but it was her favorite time of year, and she at least found peace on Christmas day. For that, I am grateful. She was witty, funny, adorable, and gifted. She had a sharp mind, and a great sense of humor. She made all of her house dresses, and all of her children's clothing, and wedding dresses. Anytime I would show her something from a new collection of mine, or an order from a customer, she would joke "Lori, where did you get that talent?? I wonder where you got it from", and we would laugh. It never got old. I will miss her so very much, and I don't even want to think about a life without her. She was the most caring, wonderful, and devoted woman in my life, aside from my own mother, and I hope to grow old just as gracefully as she did. At 86, she lived a full life with 5 children, 5 grandkids, and a great grandchild.

I know that when she left us, she joined my grandfather on the dancefloor somewhere much better than earth. And I'm sure she looked beautiful.

Just a little update on new items!

Even though fall is coming, it doesn't mean we have to banish thoughts of palm trees just yet! I found some great fabric yesterday, and my favorite was a little yard remnant of kitty sweatshirt fabric that I almost didnt get! I turned it into this darling Venni Caprice hoodie that is great for the summer and for the fall!

I dont usually post about blog posts, articles, and blurbs written about Venni Caprice, but this one is quite special to me. A customer of mine wrote an article about Venni Caprice, and posted it on her fashion blog. She is the sweetest person in the world, and was so pleased with the 10 ways to wear it top that she ordered from me, that she had to write about it! Since it is in Portuguese, I tranlsated it the best I could on google:

"The desired: VenniCaprice

Although not spoken much about this, but lately I am a fan of the site taken Etsy. It is a place where people from around the world put things done by themselves, very original and unique creations, where we can find a little of everything. Choose not lack. The site is very well made, has a very easy to use, and can result in very well. And if we have patience, find real treasures in there!

That is what I did, on a day when walked over there to get the nose, there was a top that called my attention:

Top versatile, 45 €

Let me explain, all the models they see here on top, are the same top. is like a normal fall drops (but with a fabric super comfortable, and justinho the body) with the addition of two long strips of fabric, leaving the top of each side. This allows you to do all the combinations they see more and those you want to invent! (See the videos explaining here) I found brilliant, and I was soon to learn that he had to have one, that where there for that. Curiously, I see the other pieces of creative, Lori, the face of VenniCaprice. It is she who designs the clothes, sewing, does the marketing, photograph the pieces, and serves as a model (Wow!). And you know what? The clothes it is completely addictive ... She is so accessible as to make the clothes as you want, so that fit perfectly to your body. The collection is super feminine and sexy but also very easy to use, and creative. So you brought up my favorite models for you have an idea, and know the fabulous Lori.

Red dress: 200 €. It is a beautiful dress, very trendy, has kimono sleeves and a detail of the neckline that makes it unique. Dress / white tunic: 127 €. More a versatile piece. They can use it as a dress, as his shirt, or how to get off (as suggested in the photos of the site). It can be done in peach-coloured. It is fantastic with a belt, to mark the silhouette (The belt itself in the image sells separately) but is also well alone.

Dress: 105 €. This is without doubt one of my favorites. I love the way the body is slim in this dress. The detail of the coasts give much grace and mark the difference. Moreover, can choose the shape of the neckline when they order the dress, square or round to tie behind the neck.

Black and pink dress: 80 €. Purple and green dress: 75 €. An exclusivity of Lori, this dress is super modern, very different and full of enchanting details. Look in the sleeves for example, very feminine, how the neckline is drapeado, the hooded, and the beauty of the fabrics used. The dresses have their respective Obi (belt) which can be removed if you want, and can use them with other clothing. Ah! And the site there are many colors of this model, they may order with short sleeves.

Top: 54 €. It is a top fine to use in day-to-day, but if they want a more arranjadinho look out at night, or out with friends, also is ideal. Camisola: 48 €. This is a unique piece, in color, and size XS. But there is another color available, a very beautiful champagne that also existed on the site.

Dress: 76 €. The Lori took in some surplus of tissues and created this dress, which means that a piece is absolutely unique. And I love it. So if they want to hurry up! Top: 28 €. More a single piece, the top color of lead, is very sexy. Again, fits perfectly to the body, like a second skin. And the detail of the neckline (as he then above) makes it very special.

And finally, the cherry on top of cake! for me, these clothes are the winners for this summer dress First: 62 € (batam not me, but it is also single) this is a very flattering dress. First, the tape below the chest, helps to define it and give it prominence, while the bottom has a great fall, and some fats can disguise unwanted. The handles are very delicate and feminine, but may not be as well to those that have very large shoulders. According dress: 47 €. I already said several times here in the blog as anything I disagree with the mixture of patterns. But here get a big exception. This follows perfectly dressed, is very ethnic and irreverent. The belt (included) can be removed and used with other clothing. Note: If the wear, accessories make more discreet and preferably without other patterns, the dress should be the centerpiece.

There were worshipping it? The moral of the story: I just bought the top, from there, up in Paris. I was very pleased, not only because it was fantastic (I spoke with her directly and she is very accessible), but also because the top was exactly what I expected, if not better. Well costurado, with strengthening in the chest so that never falls or becomes uncomfortable. And on the positions ... not imagine how fun! It is as if it had purchased 10 tops. I hope you have enjoyed the work of it, I will see that the two areas in her Etsy (two collections) and VC2o the VenniCaprice. I promise that will not repent:) and now do not care, I have a particularly thanks to Lori.

Again, thank you so much for all your work, you always try to do everything in your reach to give exactly what your customers ask. This is indeed a very deserved tribute to your professionalism and creativity. Keep up the good work you've all been doing so far, Fashion needs more people like you, who know precisely what women deserve and look good on, and are so filled with talent. Big things are in the works for Venni Caprice, but we have to keep them on the D.L. until everything is in place. So while I cant report on VC news, I can tell you about a few shops I am into right now:

1) This lovely shop has promoted one of our dresses in her store. Shes an absolute doll, and her work is amazing! Jewelry!

2) This is the store of a friend of mine who has amazing artwork, check her out!!

3) There is nothing cooler than charm bracelets, period.

4) Or custom made faux tatoos for that matter!

Off topic.. Adventures Club

This has nothing to do with Venni Caprice clothing, but it has everything to do with the designer of Venni Caprice clothing. So its a little off topic, but completely relevant to my world. I am asking for help. You may not have heard about it, you may only have heard about it and never been, and then, you may have gone to it and fell in love with it like i did. I am referring to the Adventures Club at Please Island in Disney world. This place is like a second home to me. They are tearing it down, along with all of the ridiculous, money seeking renovations they are doing at P.I.

There is an online petition that was just put together, and Im asking if you could please sign it:

All of the actors are AMAZING, the best group of people at a show you would ever want to see. They will all be losing their jobs. And all of the loyal patrons will be losing their favorite place to laugh and drink. It was like walking into another world. Well, quite literally. It was 1937 in there every night. It was somewhere you could go, where the jokes were the same - but always funny in new ways due to the crowd, the comedic timing, whatever it was. It was never boring, never normal, never really the same. But now it definitely wont be the same, without it. There is no way to get around it being gone for the 18 month period they will be renovating the area. But maybe if enough of us plead for it, it will stay and re-open with the new P.I.

Please sign the petition. I am really, REALLY upset for actors, for myself and family... it just wont be the same in Disney anymore.

Seriously? What a good week huh? We had the Glamorous Red event last night! And despite the torrential rain and Red Sox home game traffic, we had a great turn out and a lot of fun! Here is a picture of the ladies I dressed (after their fabulous makeovers!)

This has been a great for VC2O by Venni Caprice! We have made the front page of Etsy two days in a row! (and of course we have the Glamorous Red event on Friday!)

Its been very exciting to see my higher end items getting noticed by more viewers! I am also almost all done with the new www.vennicaprice.com which will include my portfolio and a shopping area that you can purchase items directly from the site instead of having to sign up for Etsy to purchase them! I will of course still have most of my items on Etsy though.

Today VC has been featured in 100 documented Etsy treasuries!! (of those that I was able to get screen shots of). For those of you who do not know what a treasury or Etsy is, go here. I think its quite coincidental that our 100th documented treasury is Red, dont you? Which leads me to my next subject:

New Boutiques and New Hoodies!

Because I have been working around the clock to pump out boutique orders, customer orders, and the like.. I havent been able to list many new items at vennicaprice.com, but I have been busy adding the Spring/Summer Collection to vc2o.etsy.com!

However, we will be selling at two new boutiques! One is actually a brand new boutique opening in a few weeks called Deliberately Chic. We will be selling a small collection in their brand new store!

And going international, we will now be selling in the UK!! A fantastic shop called Street Boutique. I am currently working on their order. I actually listed a new hoodie tonight that I designed just for Street! But I will be selling it in my store as well - made to order ofcourse!

While I will be receiving the photos from the photoshoot soon enough, I thought I would give a little preview from the videos!! They are not very clear, but they are fun because you get to see the process of the shoot more than just the fabu clothes!! We finally had the photoshoot for the Spring/Summer '08 Collection, and let me tell you, it was a BLAST! It was a three hour shoot, and would have gone on longer but we were all just very tired by then! So heres some previews! I will be writing back with the REAL photos very soon!!

VC in Two New Boutiques!

I am currently working on orders for two new boutiques. One is at the Chestnut Hill mall in Boston, MA called Elle Boston. It is located right next to Bloomingdales. Its an absolutely fabulous little boutique with upscale, up to the minute styles!

Also, a new boutique that just opened this month in Philidelphia called Aci Nae Boutique! Its just as adorable!

I am very excited to be working with both of these boutiques, but its going to be a lot of work! So for right now, I will probably not be posting any new items at Vennicaprice.com . However, I am doing a photo shoot this sunday for the Spring/Summer '08 collection, which will be listed in the new store www.vc2o.etsy.com, so keep your eyes peeled for that!!

Venni Caprice goes to concerts!!

I was lucky enough (and I have no idea how by the way) to win tickets to the Gavin Degraw concert this weekend, as well as the sound check party. So I whipped up a new VC Hoodie to wear, grabbed my best friend, and headed over to the Paradise for a night of sheeeenanigans. Either way, I will be introducing this hoodie on vennicaprice.com mid summer. It is a very long sleeve, form fitting baby waffle (tiny thermal) knit hoodie in yellow or white! Not only is Lori of Venni Caprice the one who introduced me to Etsy, she's also...well it's easier to say what she's not, but I'll try. She's the fashion designer, sewer, pattern maker, photographer, marketer, networker, and model just to name a few. Collectively, Lori's many roles support her own fashion line, Venni Caprice.
Lori is currently working on her new spring line. Planning a collection involves predicting trends while maintaining the personality of the brand. For the most part, Lori's inspiration comes from the fabric - the stretch, the drape, or the color. Most of her designs are a result of her visualizing the piece in her head. Her visualization is then transferred to the finished piece, skipping the drawing step. I find that part amazing because it tells me she really knows her craft. I AM THE RIGHTFUL OWNER OF PATENT NUMBER US D561,430 !!!! I applied for a patent last year and I got it sooner than expected!! WAY SOONER!! I am so excited! I ofcourse can not show you what I got a patent for.. its an older style hoodie I designed and started selling like wildfire... so I took it out of my store, and got a patent on it! YEAHY!

So VC was on the front page of Etsy once again this morning!! BUT I SLEPT THROUGH IT!!! A fellow Etsier was kind enough to forward me a photo of it! I was so upset that I missed it, but I got to see it after all! It was a grey and pink Treasury!

Speaking of pink, I got pink highlights!!! (Middle gal.) I am very excited about them :) I absolutely love them, so I think I will keep 'em for a while!

So I have been sewing my face off in anticipation of the holidays. I want to have a good variety of items in the store, like a department store would have. Back from Vacation...

Well its been almost three weeks since I stopped working for my glorious vacation, destination" my beloved Disney World. It was 12 days of no work. 7 days of rain however, but I will overlook that fact. So while I am trying to get back into the swing of things, I am also trying to organize my disaster of an "office" which consists of my dining room, a dining room table, two machines, a cutting board, fabric in every aspect of the room, as well as supplies, clothing, and an ironing board. I don't have much room but I'm trying to change that. I'm also sorting through fabric scraps and fabric pieces that I will either use, or chuck. So amidst all of chucking, I did have some little pieces of fabric here and there that I turned into wearables. I now have to focus on tentative new shops, getting rid of old inventory I no longer want to have in my presence, and preparing for ... dun dun dun DUNNNNN.. winnnttter :(

BLEH!! I still have another (possible) Florida trip to look forward to in 6 weeks, if all goes well in the health dept with a family member.. but for now, here are some new items, go to the store and buy 'em!!!

Venni Caprice in Three New Shops!!!

When it rains, it pours my friends. I have been selectively seeking out different places to sell Venni Caprice in, and I have written to a few internet boutiques. One of them responded, saying that my items should work great for their boutique and to get started right away. And within that same week, I was approached by two other boutiques (that I hadnt even contacted) that wanted to sell my line!

and a new boutique on NEWBURY ST in Boston (yeahy!!!) that is opening up in October!!

I am in the process of getting some pretty dresses and wrap tops made for each of them, and I should be sending their first shipments week! SOOOOooooo keep your eyes peeled on those websites.

I have also had some recent write ups on some blogs. I will be posting those later this week. As for now I just have a few treasuries VC has been featured in that I havent had time to post. With the new shipments I have had to make, plus the steady stream of custom orders from vennicaprice.com I have been a BUuuuuSSsyyy BEE!

But I ofcourse had some time for a gig on Wednesday Night with my buddy Chris at Revolution Rock Club!! Oh the life of a singing seamstress... La la laaaa lalallaa.. thread, fabric... lalallallaa.....

So a while back I sent in vennicaprice.com for review to be indexed in the search of Boston.com , and they confirmed that they would list my site. It took a while, but its now searchable! So if you go to boston.com and look for anything, hoodie dresses, venni caprice, ruffle shirts, you name it, Venni Caprice will come up!! Very exciting news! Also, I was just contacted by Spree New York Online magazine to be featured in their special online shopping & beauty guide that is going out to over TWO MILLION female shoppers in September (just in time for fall shopping!). It costs a lil to be a part of it, but, they hand pick the people they want to feature, and, I think I just might do it! What'dya think? Either way, I attatched a photo of the new style shirt I mentioned in my last post, as well as some of the recent treasuries VC has been featured in. More news to come as well, I have some things in the works this week ... muahaha... <3>

So I am finally getting a fashion show in the works, tentatively for the fall, and possibly a write up on a very exclusive fashion site, more on thatttt to come! And the store sales are picking up tremendously. It seems I wont have to rely on feebay for my income as much anymore! So VC is also featured in FOUR treasuries right now! What would I call this, equilvently to myspace's "trifecta", fourtastic? Sure why not! Here they are! As well as some older ones... and I made a new fabulous style cowl tank, very deconstructed and shit. Pictures soon!

Sewwwwww IIIiiiiiiiiiiii finally got into a treasury that made the FRONT PAGE of Etsy!!!! It was the most exciting thing. I woke up and checked my email via my PDA phone, half asleep, had three emails from etsy convos, and was like, whyyy so many?? Sew I opened the last email first, and low and behold, it was a convo email from the girl who made the treasury, telling me it had been chosen for the FRONT PAAAAGEE!! (FRONT PAGE will be in all caps every time it is mentioned, btw.) So I literally jumped out of bed, slid across my room due to all the momentum that pushed me off of the bed, into my computer table, almost knocking off the laptop and some plants, flung open the laptop and refreshed the already open Etsy.com to see, glorious as ever, VENNNNIII CAPRICE ON THE FRONT PAAAAAAAAAAAGE!! Ok so, it didn't last for more than a few hours, but it did however randomly reappear on July 3rd for the night, so teechhhnically, I was on the front page TWICE!! Sorry, the FRONT PAGE TWIIICEE!! Above to the right is the fabulousness that is, the FRONT PAGE! And over to the right are some of the nice comments left by some nice people about VC.

VC also made it into some other treasuries as well, so I'll throw 'em in here as well. I have been pretty busy working, Indepencence day came and went, and its finally hot as balls again so, with that said, Im off to sleep!! :)

Ok, stressed doesnt begin to explain what is happening to this face right now. I did make some treasuries this week though so have a looksy pooh! I made my first mens tie today, that matches the dress I made for a wedding I will be attending. Annnnnd I came to the conclusion that if you ever make yourself a dress to wear to an event with a guy, make him a matching tie, IT LOOKS SO NEAT! Ok, round 'em up..

Hell Week

This is going to be a veryyyy busy week. I have to make a dress for myself for a wedding, a graduation gift, get a fathers day present, do a custom fitting, make a few custom items, work on Ebiz and Etsy and then try to squeeze in Mohegan for a birthday, and then a wedding the next morning... Yikes. But in the meantime, VC was featured in two treasuries today. Enjoy!

So I got to take a break today to get my hair done. It is a little darker than usual, but hopefully it'll lighten up in the sun - that I hope to be seeing around, oh I dont know, Friday? I am going to the beach whether I have time or not. Even for an hour. As for now, I am all over custom orders like you read about. I did have time to squeeze in a new hoodie though, and it. is. a. BEAUT! Not because I made it (dur). But the fabric - is divine. I bought it today during my jaunt to the Fabric Place. I may or may not have spent $100 on fabric, but hopefully I can sell about 5 of these and make 5 times that amount back. And the cycle repeats.

Either way, my excitement for pink hoodies took me to a Pink theme'd treasury, which I am now part of! Haaaller. And now I am off to sleep. 3am and gearin up for another busy day filled with halter dresses and the hunt for a black cashmere sweater to recreate! Love.

Leather ... Bust I Must

I am not into using animals for fashion. Actually, I am abhorrently against fur and any animal cruelty to be honest. But something about leather just screams "RICH". And I'm not talking money rich, I'm talking quality. I dont use it often though, only once before.

I previously made a dress with a leather bust back in October:

and I thought I would try again. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome (picture to the right with black background). Either way, heres my fun item 'o' the day!

End of the day update: This dress already made a treasury! And a really pretty one at that! Its a nature treasury, with an ombre theme fading from blue to green :) Way cool.

As some of you remember, last year-ish, I was featured on this website called Auctionbabez.com for one of my auctions in my Ebay store, Chrome Couture. I was somewhat mortified, everyone else was highly amused. We all had a laugh and that was that. The site ended up being closed down. Well apparently they are back up and running, and for their first week of auctions, my store was chosen to be featured again, but this time, it was for a Venni Caprice item!! You know what they say, all press is good press. And the guy who runs the website actually had something very nice to say, instead of totally cheesy and dirty. So thank the Lord for that!

YEAHY!!!

(Just found out she changed up her treasury and added one of my OTHER jackets in place of the sweater, so TWO items made it into this treasury!!!!)

Ok well its Memorial Day weekend, Monday to be exact.. so maybe not the weekend any longer, but you get the point. Up till now, I have been selling my clothing label at my ebay store http://www.chromecouture.com/ , at my Etsy store http://www.vennicaprice.com/ , and at the Black Flamingo boutique in California. The Black Flamingo is a boutique that sells only hand made items. They found my label from my Ebay store. The girls who own it are the stylists from the MTV show "Laguna Beach". The store is featured on MTV countless times, and they use the clothes from their shop to dress the girls on the set of the show. VERY exciting. I have had my dresses worn to a red carpet event in Cali... (pictured below and left)
